University of Pennsylvania

Gluten-free at Penn,
together.

A community for students with celiac disease, gluten intolerance, or anyone who eats gluten-free. We share meals, resources, and advocate for safer dining on campus.

About Us

Eating gluten-free in college can feel isolating. Penn GF Society makes it easier by bringing people together and making sure no one has to figure it out alone.

Meet other gluten-free students, swap tips, and share meals without worrying about what's on the plate.

GF Dining Guide

Tips and places our members trust. Always tell staff you need gluten-free for a medical reason, and ask about cross-contact.

On Campus

Penn Dining Halls

Look for allergen labels at each station and ask a manager about dedicated gluten-free prep. Registering with Penn Dining's dietitian can help you get individual accommodations.

On Campus

Student Disability Services

If you have celiac disease, you may qualify for dining accommodations, including meal plan adjustments. Reach out early in the semester.

Near Campus

University City Restaurants

Many spots on Walnut, Chestnut, and Sansom have GF menus. Ask the group chat for current member favorites and recent experiences.

Near Campus

Grocery Runs

Nearby grocery stores carry dedicated gluten-free sections with bread, pasta, and snacks for your dorm or apartment.

Tips

Ordering Safely

Say "celiac" or "medical allergy" instead of "preference." Ask about shared fryers, toasters, and prep surfaces.

Tips

Traveling & Events

Pack safe snacks for club events, trips, and late nights, and let organizers know your needs ahead of time.
